In this post, we’re excited to share an interview with Tylnda Berry, the owner of Pieces of Mind. She advocates for mental health through fashion, creating statement pieces that promote awareness and support survivors.

Today, let’s explore freedom, self-discovery, and the deep reflection that helps you uncover your true self. As R&B singer Janelle Monáe beautifully said, “Embrace what makes you unique, even if it makes others uncomfortable. I didn’t have to become perfect because I’ve learned that perfection is the enemy of greatness.”

This quote inspires us to love every part of ourselves and cherish what makes us distinct. It’s important to remember that you don’t need to conform to others' views to feel valid. Embrace who you truly are and learn from your mistakes. Chasing perfection can hinder your growth; greatness arises from our trials and imperfections. Think of it like a rose growing through cracks in the sidewalk—beauty can emerge from the most unexpected places.

Embarking on the journey of self-discovery reveals incredible truths about yourself. It lays the groundwork for self-awareness, self-love, and ultimately, greatness. This process helps you explore your values and potential, leading to a more purposeful and directed life. At its core, self-awareness means understanding yourself deeply.

Embrace the freedom of loving and accepting yourself—flaws and all. This acceptance liberates you from societal pressures and guides you toward a fulfilling life. Consider this journey as a way to “date” yourself, uncovering the beautiful details that make you unique. This exploration can boost your confidence and help you see the world through your own lens.

In our interview, Tylnda shared her journey of personal growth. She said, “My journey has not always been easy, but it’s worth it.” Tylnda emphasizes the importance of resilience, stating, “Despite what life throws at me, I have become resilient.” Her faith has been fundamental to her journey, grounding her and providing peace.

It’s perfectly okay to feel uncomfortable at times. You don’t have to please everyone; you have the right to express yourself fully. Your courage to embrace your true self may inspire someone else on their journey.

Tylnda’s path to mental freedom took courage. She faced many challenges, including depression and anxiety. “Letting go of old habits for the better isn’t easy,” she said. She learned to trust her faith, stating, “Ultimately, God is in control.” This realization helped her manage overthinking and fear. She focused on what she could control—her thoughts and actions—and acknowledged that fear is often an illusion.

"Embracing your authentic self brings a confidence that no one can take away," Tylnda advises. "Being true to yourself is crucial; masking your feelings can lead to depression." She encourages self-validation, reminding us that our feelings matter most.

Mistakes are a natural part of this process, and there’s nothing to fear. The joy of self-discovery outweighs the challenges. Let go of guilt and shame when you stumble; life is a journey of learning and growth. It’s okay to simply be, to blossom, and to grow in your own time.

To begin your journey of self-discovery, reflect on what inspires you and what’s missing in your life. Spend quality time with yourself, engage in deep inner work, and consider seeking guidance from a therapist or reading inspiring books. This ongoing process requires both courage and resilience.

Tylnda also recommends envisioning the person you want to become and practicing being that person. Growth is not linear, so find positivity in all situations. Remember that your feelings are valid but shouldn’t control you.

Tylnda wants you to remember, “It’s never too late. If you are still breathing, you have hope. I’m rooting for all of us.” Connect with her on Instagram @Piecesofmind__ to shop her statement pieces and hear more from her.

Embrace this journey with an open heart. You are worthy of a life that reflects your true self, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Let’s celebrate this adventure together!
